What a wonderful way to be back with ‘in person’ options for our members networking in Oxfordshire.
We’ve organised monthly tour visits to places of interest or local businesses for nearly 11 years but the pandemic put a pause on these events.
Of course we wanted to return in a safe way for our members, so a location outdoors was sought.
Our huge thanks to GG Wildlife Experiences and Steve ‘The Bird Whisperer’ for taking our members on a Wildlife Walk at the stunning Hillfields Farm Estate at Lower Basildon.
Just 35 minutes from the Oxford Ring Road and we were in such a secluded, wonderful location near Lower Basildon. Immediately, we were enjoying fantastic views in the sunshine and witnessing the sounds of so many birds that we were all excited with anticipation to hear more about.
Our members received a very warm welcome from the wonderful team at Hillfields Farm.
After the refreshments of coffee, juices and pastries we enjoyed a tour of the estate buildings and facilities. We started in the gorgeous main barn, which is an ideal location for weddings and business meetings. Even with social distancing, this location caters for large numbers.
As we passed the area where the wedding marquee was being erected, we were then taken to be shown the new accommodation suites and studios. This self contained accommodation has been finished to a very high standard.
We were then in the expert hands of Steve ‘The Bird Whisperer’, who led us on a tour of fascination and information that was of continual interest.
As we walked the initial pathway, we enjoyed the wonderful sight of a buzzard circulating the tree tops ahead.
As we entered the woodland, Steve pointed out the various bird sounds, advising which species were present. We were lucky enough to enjoy the sound and sighting of a rare Firecrest, of which there are only 3,000 pairs in the UK.
Steve’s information was insightful and informative as we all enjoyed the time away from our business whilst networking in such a peaceful location.
As we moved around the woodland, through the trees we were lucky to see a herd of deer.
